This Elegant Family Home Transports the Hamptons to the Hills Shire

Our dedicated team at Hall & Hart Homes are passionate about working side-by-side with clients to create their dream home. We recently helped a Sydney family bring a stunning Hamptons-style home to life in the verdant Hills shire, with stunning results!

We’re also delighted that the elegant home is a finalist in the prestigious 2021 Master Builders Excellence in Housing & Pool Awards, with the winners announced on Saturday, 13th November, which will then be broadcast for the first time on Channel7two on Sunday 21st November.

Let’s take a look at how we worked with the client to create a sophisticated and yet highly liveable home.

Hamptons Grandeur with a Relaxed Australian Aesthetic

The architecturally designed, custom Hamptons home has a sophisticated look, set off by a striking façade which makes it a standout in the neighbourhood.

A long-standing retreat of New York’s elite, architect Gary Lawrance described the original homes in the Hamptons as “little worlds unto themselves…they were made for entertaining, living in, enjoying.” (Houses of the Hamptons 1880 – 1930)

It’s no wonder that the Hamptons aesthetic has become very popular in coastal areas of Australia, which have a similar climate, lifestyle and sense of space. Luckily for locals, Hall & Hart are experts at bringing it to life!

We gave this beautiful home in the Hills Shire many of the classic features of a Hamptons home; a double gable roof line and gable vents, Juliet balcony, elegant architraves and timber posts, all in the classic white and grey-hued palette that has made the Hamptons aesthetic world-famous.

However, the home has been customised with a character and warmth that is fundamentally Australian, creating a joyful indoor-outdoor flow.

Generous Spaces for Easy Family Living

One of the appealing things about the Hamptons look is its longevity. The classic architecture doesn’t go out of style, while the interiors can be updated to keep it fresh or tailored to the clients’ taste.

A sweeping sense of space also makes this house special, perfect for a growing family to stretch its wings.

Based off Hall & Hart’s Cambridge 44 plan, the entry atrium boasts impressively high ceilings. It is made even more inviting by hallway wall panelling with dado rail, complemented by warm wall lights.

    A Dream Home for Entertaining

Passing through the impressive entry atrium, guests step down into a large open plan living area, ideal for entertaining.

Likewise, the gorgeous open kitchen is a gourmet chef’s delight with all the accoutrements. Design standouts include the 60mm engineered stone mitred edge island bench, and the Abey Chambord Clotaire Large Double Bowl Ceramic sink.

Every detail in this kitchen is polished and sophisticated, from the contrasting soft blue hue of the subway tiled kitchen splashback to the shaker profile custom kitchen cabinetry and luxury Smeg 900mm Victoria range oven/cooktop and rangehood.

The entertaining area flows through sliding doors into an alfresco entertaining area, with featured pendant lighting that creates indoor/outdoor living which is ideal for the Australian climate.

Our design team worked with the client to increase the elegant ebb and flow effect throughout the entire home, such as creating dual access to the study to increase the living area.

The result is a wonderful home for family or friends to come and stay, with a spacious guest room that boasts a comfortable ensuite with bathtub. In fact, the problem may be getting visitors to leave!

    Getting the Quintessential Hamptons Look

At Hall & Hart, we’re famous for our premium inclusions, which have been handpicked by our Interior Designers at our in-house Studio You. Choosing from world-leading brands means you can create your dream home with the highest level of both elegance and functionality.

Our Interior Designers will also work closely with you on the palette for both the exterior and interiors. For this home, the classic crisp white and subtle mix of greys on the façade continues into the home with quintessential whites, grey and soft blue hues flowing into the upstairs living area. The bathrooms also feature gorgeous wall panelling.

We worked with the client to tweak the design to suit their family, relocating the Master bedroom to the rear of the home with a custom cabinetry walk in robe, turning it into a real retreat.

Traditional Hamptons tiles are featured throughout the Master ensuite, with a double shower and ‘his and hers’ vanity.

“The essence of interior design will always be about people and how they live. It is about the realities of what makes an attractive, civilised, meaningful environment, not about fashion or what’s in or what’s out,” said the American interior designer and decorator Albert Hadley.

At Hall & Hart Homes, we completely agree. We believe that every Australian family should be able to live in a home that perfectly complements their lifestyle, with customisable designs and premium inclusions that make dream homes achievable.
